This workshop supports non profit professionals, particularly new or emerging program managers, in developing the practical skills needed to design, manage, and evaluate programs that truly make a difference.

Good program management means planning, balancing resource, monitoring progress, and evaluating impact to achieve your program's goals. Effective program management not only enhances the quality of services provided but also ensures that your organization can adapt to changing environments. 

Objectives:

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the core principles, life cycle stages, and frameworks of effective program management, with a focus on community-driven outcomes.
  • Design programs that align with organizational goals and address community needs, using strategic planning tools and inclusive approaches.
  • Develop realistic work plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources to support successful program implementation.
  • Apply practical project management techniques to plan, execute, monitor, and close program activities effectively.
  • Evaluate program performance using participatory methods and use data-driven insights to improve outcomes and foster accountability.
  • Strengthen collaboration and engagement with partners, participants, and communities, while managing risks and adapting to evolving challenges.

Facilitator:

Juanita DeSouza-Huletey, MA, PMP, ALEP, BRM, PROSCI, ITIL is a community and industry  leader with over 25 years of experience in IT, project management, and governance. She is an international bestselling author, keynote speaker, and passionate educator whose mission is to empower individuals and organizations to lead with purpose, resilience, and impact.

As Founder and CEO of Dynamic Solutions International Inc., Juanita helps organizations design inclusive strategies, strengthen leadership capacity, and deliver meaningful change. She is also the visionary behind the Canadian Immigrant Professional Alliance (CIPA), a national initiative dedicated to advancing the career integration and professional success of immigrant professionals in Canada.

Juanita formerly served as Divisional Head of IT for the Winnipeg Police Service, where she led major cost-saving and transformation initiatives across critical services. She is a respected board member, advisor, and patron, serving with organizations such as the University of Manitoba, Red River College Polytechnic, and WiCyS Western Canada. She teaches at the University of Winnipeg and Red River College, sharing her expertise through workshops on leadership, program management, and advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging (EDIB).

Beyond her professional achievements, Juanita remains deeply engaged in the community, supporting cultural and volunteer initiatives that foster connection, mentorship, and inclusive growth. Her work continues to inspire emerging leaders and teams across sectors to build stronger, more equitable organizations.

Course Cancellation Policy

Volunteer Manitoba may decide to cancel or postpone any event where the minimum registration level has not been met. In the case of low in-person registration, Volunteer Manitoba may decide to host the workshop virtually instead. If you wish to not participate virtually, you will receive a full refund.

All participants registered for an event that is cancelled by Volunteer Manitoba will receive a full refund.

Refunds will not be issued for cancellations received within 10 days of the event. Registered participants who fail to attend an event are still required to pay for that event, since a space was held specifically for that person. In case of non-attendance and lack of payment, the registered participant will be invoiced for the full fee, due 30 days from the date of the invoice.
