This workshop provides a practical introduction to effective bookkeeping for nonprofit organizations. Designed for staff and volunteers with limited accounting experience, it offers a clear overview of how to establish a bookkeeping system and explains the key differences between nonprofit and for-profit accounting.

Proper bookkeeping is essential to a nonprofit’s financial health and long-term success. This session will help participants build a stronger understanding of the accounting basics that support accurate records, informed decision-making, and organizational sustainability.

  • Recognize key bookkeeping terms and concepts used in nonprofit financial management.

  • Understand the importance of accurate recordkeeping, internal controls, and timely tracking of income and expenses.

  • Explain the basics of double-entry bookkeeping.

  • Gain an introductory understanding of financial statements and bank reconciliations.

This workshop is recommended for non-profit staff and volunteers who is new to bookkeeping or supports financial administration in a nonprofit organization. 

Facilitator

Eric Robert is a partner at Rawluk & Robert Chartered Professional Accountants Inc. and a public practice accountant based in Winnipeg with 20 years of experience serving clients across Western Canada. He is passionate about helping clients better understand their finances so they feel more confident and informed.

Eric specializes in working with not-for-profit organizations and charities throughout Winnipeg and Manitoba. As both an auditor and board volunteer, he brings a strong understanding of the unique challenges these organizations face and has helped many improve their bookkeeping and financial systems.
