Volunteer Recruitment

Whether you're starting from scratch or refreshing your recruitment efforts, this session will equip you with practical tools to attract the right volunteers for the right roles.

Description

Is your organization looking to recruit volunteers more effectively? Strategic volunteer recruitment goes beyond simply posting “we need volunteers” on your website and hoping people will show up. Today’s volunteer landscape is changing, and successful recruitment efforts require thoughtful planning, targeted messaging, and a deeper understanding of why people choose to volunteer.

In this interactive workshop, you will learn how to:

  • Develop clear and compelling volunteer position descriptions

  • Align volunteer roles with your organization’s mission and impact

  • Tailor your recruitment strategies to reflect current trends in volunteer motivations and availability

Whether you're starting from scratch or refreshing your recruitment efforts, this session will equip you with creative and practical tools to attract the right volunteers for the right roles.

Facilitator Bio:

After many years of volunteering in the arts, as well as with people with disabilities, Kristy began looking for work that would have her directly involved in helping to empower others. Thus began her work melding volunteer management within the social services sector. The depth of connection that she has been blessed in developing with Winnipeg's inner city community, many of whom have little reliable connections in their lives, is noteworthy. She is passionate about supporting volunteers in meeting their goals and helping them find their strengths while helping them feel like they've made a difference. Kristy also believes in providing individuals with person-centred approaches by focusing on consistent care and support that matter most to the individual.

For the last 10 years, she has supported volunteers with disabilities, newcomers, high school students and people coming out of mental health crisis, homelessness and/or addiction - and believes that everyone has assets to offer. What she truly loves about her job is being able to connect with volunteers while creating a relationship built on trust and hands-on support.

She enjoys giving back to the community by volunteering and has had the privilege of volunteering with CNIB, St. Amant, Future Hope Inc., and United Way Winnipeg. She has been featured on CBC News and Radio, CTV News, as well as local newspapers and blogs.
