Description

Intermediate Excel for Program Monitoring and Evaluation is a workshop for non-profit professionals who want to strengthen their Excel skills for program tracking, reporting, and evaluation. Designed to build confidence, improve efficiency, and support better data management. This practical workshop offers approachable, hands-on learning that can be applied directly to real workplace tasks.

Many nonprofit staff use Excel regularly without formal training, and this course is designed to help them work more effectively and confidently in a non-profit setting.

A basic working knowledge of Excel is recommended.

Learning Objectives 

  • Use Excel more efficiently for everyday non-profit tasks.

  • Organize, clean, and summarize data effectively.

  • Apply essential Excel functions to program monitoring and evaluation work.

  • Create tables, pivot tables, and pivot charts for reporting.

  • Build basic dashboards in Excel.

  • Strengthen confidence in using Excel for data management and decision-making.

  • Gain introductory exposure to Power Query and Power BI for more automated reporting.

Program managers, program coordinators, administrative staff, and non-profit professionals who use Excel regularly and want to improve their skills.

Course Format

The course is delivered online and includes:

  • Three 1.5-hour live sessions.

  • 1 hour of one-on-one coaching per student.

Facilitator

Bohdanna Kinasevych is an experienced evaluator with more than 20 years of work supporting community organizations, not-for-profits, and public sector partners. She specializes in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research and evaluation, and helps organizations strengthen capacity and integrate evaluation into program planning and design.

Bohdanna has held research and evaluation roles at Nine Circles Community Health Centre and the University of Manitoba. She holds a Master of Science in Community Health Sciences from the University of Manitoba and is a credentialed evaluator with the Canadian Evaluation Society.
